Product Description

The articulated arm is a dedicated solution designed to eliminate reaction forces generated during high-torque tightening operations in modern industrial assembly lines. In industries such as automotive, motorcycle manufacturing, and heavy industry, reaction torque from fastening tools not only causes immediate operator fatigue but also poses serious long-term risks of musculoskeletal injuries if not properly controlled.

Key Benefits of the Vietmani articulated arm

Key Benefits of the Vietmani articulated arm

At first glance, the BENA-Series reaction torque arm may seem like just a simple tool support. In reality, it integrates a highly sophisticated and precise engineering system, designed to achieve the following objectives:

  • Complete elimination of reaction torque: This is the most critical benefit. During high-torque tightening, all reaction forces are absorbed by the BENA arm and transferred directly to the supporting column, completely removing stress from the operator’s wrist and arm.
  • High precision and consistent quality: The tool is held firmly in an optimal position, preventing thread misalignment, screw slippage, or vibration during tightening. Every fastening operation meets exact technical specifications—an essential requirement in automotive and heavy-industry applications.
  • True weightless balance operation: Pneumatic balancing technology makes fastening tools weighing tens of kilograms feel virtually weightless. Operators can control the tool effortlessly, even with a single finger, while maintaining a steady working rhythm throughout the shift.
  • Wide working range with maximum flexibility: A multi-axis joint design with a working radius of up to 4,000 mm allows easy access to deep positions inside vehicle cabins, engine blocks, or complex assemblies without changing the production line layout.
  • Safety and stability with a dedicated braking system: The BENA-Series reaction torque arm is equipped with a pneumatic brake and tooth clutch that automatically locks during tightening, preventing any unintended movement and protecting both the operator and the product surface.

Outstanding Advantages of the Vietmani articulated arm

Outstanding Advantages of the Vietmani articulated arm

Compared to conventional tool balancers or torque gun hangers, Vietmani’s reaction torque arm stands out in torque control thanks to several exclusive features:

  • Pneumatic tooth clutch system: Instantly locks all arm joints, eliminating any displacement. This ensures the tool remains perfectly perpendicular to the surface and absorbs 100% of reaction torque—even at extremely high tightening levels of up to 1,500 N·m.
  • Market-leading torque range (up to 1,500 N·m): An ideal specification range for heavy industries such as automotive manufacturing, agricultural machinery, and power equipment.
  • Multiple end-effector coupling options: WM (fixed vertical), RWM (flexible vertical rotation), and WAO (rotation around the tool axis). The BENA arm can be customised to fit all types of fastening tools and the most challenging access angles.
  • Weightless balance technology: Applying Vietmani’s proprietary technology, the BENA-Series achieves perfect force equilibrium for smooth and effortless operation.
  • Manufactured in Vietnam – Designed to real-world requirements: As a direct manufacturer, Vietmani can precisely customise arm length and reach based on the actual dimensions of each customer’s workstation.

Operating Instructions for the articulated arm

To ensure maximum performance in reaction force elimination and operator safety, the system should be operated according to the following steps:

Step 1: Pneumatic connection and safety check

  • Connect the system to a clean compressed air supply with stable pressure from 0.6–0.8 MPa. Inspect all pivot joints and test brake responsiveness before installing the tool.

Step 2: Tool installation and integration

  • Mount the DC torque wrench or handheld fastening tool onto the dedicated arm interface. Depending on the application, select the appropriate coupling type (WM/RWM or WAO) to ensure optimal tool positioning.

Step 3: Balance adjustment

  • Activate the assist system to bring the tool into a weightless state. When properly adjusted, the tool will remain suspended at any position within the working range.

Step 4: Tightening operation and reaction control

  • Move the tool to the fastening point. Once tightening begins, the pneumatic tooth clutch or braking system automatically engages, locking all joints. The full reaction torque—up to 1,500 N·m—is transferred through the BENA arm to the base, with no force transmitted to the operator’s wrist.

Step 5: Smooth repositioning

  • After completing a fastening point, the brake releases, allowing the operator to move effortlessly to the next position within the 4,000 mm working radius.
